My dear Brother,
Your kind letter of yesterday gave me uneasiness as I am sure you must suffer much at parting from those tender relatives – wife, & children, but it has been of course a separation you must have expected from having been called out some time back- I hope you leave your wife etc in charge, & under the immediate protection of her own family – if I can be of any service you may always command me, though as a poor individual, it may not be of much value, or, comfort though my sincere good wishes will ever be yours – do request Mrs Waters to favor me with a line occasionally when she hears from you, and likewise I shall be most happy to hear of herself & family & where she is.
I was at Stonehouse for a week in the Autumn & went on board the Superb – a 2 decker. I was delighted at the Magnitude of a ship- never having seen one so near. I think the neighbourhood of Plymouth the most picturesque & Beautiful that can be in existence, according to my limited tours.- I hope you will have at the cruel wretches – if they dare venture at the horrid traffic of our fellow creatures – can’t you scramble for a pocket full of the dust . ‘Spose you carry some & make the exchange, -as the adage goes, half is no robbery. Adieu my dear Brother & may God of his Great Mercy restore you safe to the comfort of your domestic circle, at the time prescribed – & I remain your
very affectionate & sincere
Sister
