Dear Sister Janet
Now it is quite a while since you wrote a letter to me, but as I had come home before you sent the letter, it had to follow me up. I gave the postman Lizzies address to send any mail there that came for me and then she sent it on here. The people around here seem to be busy at the hay making and we have to wait for a rainy day to go visiting as the horses are busy on fine days. I have only been up to Sues one day yet since I came home and I have been home nearly five weeks. I am going up some day this week to stay a while with her. She misses her girls this summer. I suppose Trudie and Ed are with you some now when they are having their vacation. How is Baby Susan now I should like to step in and see her someday. I don’t believe John would know me if I walked in there and he didn’t know I was going–I am so much stouter and my hair is getting so gray. I miss Mother very much this summer. Father likes to have me go places with him, he is so lonesome. He seems to be stiffer with his rheumatism than he was a year ago.
I can see he is failed quite a lot in the last year. We were all down to the funeral of Mr. Wm. Sedgewick yesterday afternoon which was very largely attended. He dropped dead of heart failure on Wednesday evening. George and Laura went to Rachel Annand’s funeral this afternoon. Now I find that Father is writing to John and he may write the same as I am writing to you, we will put it in the same envelope and you can sit down together and read them. I am feeling better than I did before I came and I am glad I came when I did, as they have had some terrible hot weather since I left. I will likely go back some time in September–after the hot weather is over. Well I guess Father has likely written all the news, so I guess I will close for the present from
Sister Nettie
