Children of George Scott Dickey referred to in the letter:  George and Laura (Annand) Dickey, Dave Archibald (married to Susanna Dickey); also granddaughter Mildred Bryson (daughter of Mary Jane (Dickey) and Stewart Bryson). “Unkle Richard” would be Richard Bates, brother of Susanna Bates Dickey.]

Musquodoboit July 24th 1910

Dear John

I would have answered your letter before this but I was waiting for Mildred Bryson to come she arrived last week is up at Daves now will be there the most of the time untill the girls leave that will be on the 8th of August by thier present arrangements. well we have not started haying yet the weather has been very cloudy and wet for the last week we had a heavy rain one day and the water was up over some of the grass but went down pretty quick. there will be some sanded hay on the vally the crops are all looking well if there is only weather to make it the hay will be a heavy crop and the grain looks well to it is fine to day the first fine day for over a week George has not got his potatoes ploughed yet it has been so wet. Lauras Mother is very low George took her out last Night She is coming back to Night I will not close this till she comes then if there is any change I can let you know she has been in bed now for four or five weeks last Night she was so low she could not speak they did not think she would last till morning. I wish we had some of your dry hot weather mixed with ours Your Unkle Richard is not very well this summer I have not seen him for some time now but George Fleck and his mother was here one day about a week ago she said he was pretty misebral [miserable] some days now I dont know of any thing more to write this time so I will close hoping this will find you and Janet well and hoping to hear from you soon again

PS Monday Lauras Mother died yesterday afternoon is to be Burried Tuesday at 10 oclock
