From Charlotta Wickham to her brother-in-law John Bates Dickey (January 15, 1903)

[In same envelope as the letter to Annabelle Wickham Dickey dated January 14, 1903:]

Moosomin Jan 15. 1903

My Dear Brother;-

It is getting rather dark so you shall have to excuse crooking (I meant crooked. Abbie is talking a blue streak) writing for I cannot see the lines. Well must tell you a joke that occurred yesterday in school. When one of the clsses were going into the library yesterday one of the girls lost there bustles and Mr. Dunning kicked it under one of the girls seats. Well the whole school nearly killed themselves laughing, Mr Dunning and all. And what was worse Mr Dunning told all the teachers and when he came home he told Mrs Spooner right before Abbie about it and said Mr Les had a great laugh about it. He told Miss Higgens about it and she asked him how he knew it was a bustle. He said his sister wore one when she was ten years old. So when you take Belle out anywhere you want to be sure and pin it on securely as it may come off.

I thought I had better write to you to-night to tell you that I did not get the letter you wrote me so you had better write another. Well Good Bye or i shall not get home in time for tea.

Your affectionate Sister

Charlotta Wickham

P.S. Be sure you save Thomas for me in case I may have to fall back on him. Lottie Ferguson and I get along fine. C.C.W.

P.S. I hope you dont have to pay an extra two cents for this valuable information about the bustle. C.C.W.
