Cranbrook July 6th 1834

Dear Thomas,

I thank you and your good Wife for the very friendly offer you have made me on this Melancholy occasion and shall ever remember it with gratitude but my kind friends here have rendered me every assistance in their power without my troubling any other friends, it has been a very great shock to me it being so very sudden and my being so very ill at the time it had the greater effect on my nerves, I have been very ill but thank the Almighty and the care of my good friends I am getting better, I should have answered your kind letter before but was not able to do it, now I trust the worst is past and I hope soon to be able to settle all I have to do here and return into Devon and there to end my days, I have had a very kind letter from my Brother requesting me to come down which I shall do as soon as possible after I have arranged all my business at Cranbrook, I must now bid you Adieu with kind regard to Mrs. Waters and all your Children and may you all enjoy health and happiness is the sincere wish of your true friend
