The location of the Guañape Islands in relation to the Peruvian coastline. The distance between the Guañape Islands and the Port of Callao is 240 nautical miles. The rocks just off the Callao coast are those that sent Wealth of Nations and its captain, Thomas Waters, Jr, to a watery grave on July 3, 1871. See also P. 284 of the By Sea, By Land book.
