My Dearest Love

I am just arrived at Spithead, in excellent Health, and I hope to be with you and my sweet children in another fortnight- I hope you are all well – The Commodore has been dangerously ill but he is now quite recovered. We left Ascension the 21st Ult. Col. Nichols and his Officers were all well, Mr. Stockwell expected Mrs. Stockwell and family out this month. I cannot say whether we shall be paid off at Portsmouth or Woolwich I, of course wish it to be at the latter place. I hope my children are good, Hindle attends on me and will soon, I hope, be able to take them for a walk on the common, in the mean time, believe me, my Dearest Love ever your most devoted Husband

Thos. Waters
