A sweeping historical tome of the Hewson family history back to the Waters family of England has been published and will be launched in early February.
By Sea, By Land: The Hewsons Look Back, is an 800-page hardcover book with more than 400 images. It tells the stories of Thomas Waters Senior and Elizabeth Butterworth and their descendants through seven generations, dating from the late 1700s to the present. The book was commissioned by Margaret Hewson, a 7th generation descendant of Thomas Waters, and written by Suzanne Paschall. A nearly three-year partnership was required to research, organize, write and edit the book, and that after many years of Margaret acquiring family information and artifacts, developing a genealogical site, and interviewing numerous family members. The book was designed by Terry Corrigan and Relish Branding (Winnipeg, MB), and printed by Friesens Corporation (Altona, MB).
The book features a special section of colour images and text that show a collection of Thomas Waters Senior’s uniform and civilian clothing items currently held in the Royal Marines Museum, part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN).
