How do I search the Archives?

If you want to look at all of any one of the seven categories of items (letters, photographs, videos, information pieces, family trees, artifacts or source documents), you can hover on the Archive menu item, then click on the category you want in the drop-down menu.

You can also search across all categories for any materials related to a certain name (i.e. "Cairns" or "John Hewson"); place (i.e. "Nova Scotia" or "France"); event (i.e. "World War I" or "coronation"); year (i.e. "1840" or "1960"), or even topic (i.e. "slavery" or "food").

Finally, if you're looking for something specific and can't find it, please contact Margaret and she can let you know if anything exists for your subject. Keep in mind that many items are not yet processed, and she will know if what you're looking for is in that "to do" file!

How do I become a volunteer?

You can check out the "Get Involved!" section to see what opportunities are currently available, including the Unsolved Mysteries, and contact Margaret with your interests. It's that simple!

What volunteer jobs are available right now?

To see the current volunteer activities we are recruiting for, hover on "Get Involved" menu item, then click on "Current Volunteer Opportunities."

Where are the original materials in the Archive stored?

Some of the originals are in the hands of people who inherited them, and some are on loan with Margaret while being used for the project. In most cases, the digital archive of the original item will include a description that identifies who currently has the object.

How can I contribute an item to the Archive?

We're always looking for materials to add to the Waters Family online archive! Every item has some kind of story associated with it, and sometimes the stories are as interesting as the items themselves!
Contact Margaret to discuss your contribution and she can guide you to what she will need to add the item to the archive.
