Addressed to Mr Waters, 14 Kingsland Place, Southampton, Hants
Coombe, 24 May 1820
My dear Mr Waters,
Mr Smith has paid me Twenty five pounds for the years interest due to you. I have enclosed a Dft for £13..3s..4d which together with Ten pounds I before sent leaves one pound.6s..8d due to you, it affords us sincere pleasure to hear that you are so comfortably settled. However I should recommend you not fail to serve when your turn arrives, it is a permanent & most respectable service, I suppose you are also looking out for promotion. You do not mention Mrs Waters & your Children, pray inform me in your next what your family consists of. I hope they all enjoy, that greatest of all blessings, Health. We have been staying principally at Teignmouth for 2 years past, but I hope we shall all return to this place in about a fortnight. Mrs Sillifant has been ill, but she is now recovering Her health daily. John is in London. Mrs Sillifant joins with me in kind regards to yourself & best compliments to Mrs Waters.
