Dear John

I suppose it is about time I was answering your letter I have been putting it off as Laura has been talking about writing to Janet so I thought I would wait and write later but she has put it off so long that I concluded to write now. we finished haying the 22nd of Augest and we got the wheat cut and in and the Buckwheat cut the oats are a little late this year we expect the Binder to day to cut them. we had a frost on the night of the 30th that killed some of the garden stuff then we had it again on the second night of Sep that hurt the Buckwheat some that was not ripe. George took a job of cutting the hay on the Hogan place he expects to finish there to day we have had fine weather for the last two weeks we had a shower yesterday morning but it cleared up fine in the afternoon and it is fine to day Wills folks are done haying but have not got any grain in yet Jean is teaching in Greenwood she Boards with Sue and comes home on Friday nights. Mildred Bryson is arround here yet but we do not see much of her she has been in here on two afternoons since she came. They are going to have an Exibition here on the 22 & 23 of this month George is going to enter some stock he has a fine pair of three year old steers and two good calves and some good cows. this is poor fruit year here last year we had three Bushels of plums this year we may have two dozen if they dont blow off before it is time to pick them now I do not know of any thing more to write so I will close with Love to all hoping this will find you well as it leaves us

I remain your Father
