Dear John

we received your letter to your mother but she was not here to hear the sad news of the death of your child we had laid her in the grave the day before. she took worse on Saturday the Dr was here at noon she suffered very much untill about night she asked to be turned over and they turned her on to her left side she then put her hand up to the side of her head and went to sleep and appeared to be sleeping comfortable. we all thought that she would wake again but she slept that way untill twelve oclock when she just gave a few gasps and was gone We burried her on Tuesday afternoon Nettie got here in time for the funeral but Aggie did not get here untill after the funeral. I know how I will miss her the others have thier own company and I will be alone for she cannot come back to me but I shall go to her. there was a very large funeral a good many came from Stewiacke and I think from almost every house from P G Archibalds to Taylors corner Nettie is up at Daves now she has to go back the first of next week Aggie is going to stay a little longer Laura is going to write to Janet so I will close this with my sympaty for your loss hoping this will find you all well I remain your Father
