Friday evening.
Dear Janet,-
If you like you can take these corsets I am sending back as they are too small for me and yours are just the right size. If you don’t like send me the next size. Next time send more magazines if you want that scrap book of yours to flourish. There was a prayer meeting or C.E. (I don’t know which) this evening. There were 22 people there. First there was only Maggie Ann, Katy, Nellie, Sadie, Miss McPhie and I there then Papa began the meeting (oh yes a lot of little boys) and Alex. Ross came in & Papa first had singing and Then a prayer by Alex. Ross at the beginning of which Mr. G. Campbell came in. Just at the end of the meeting as they were deciding if there was going to be a prayer meeting or C.E. Tomy Robertson Willie Dewar. Just at the second sining at the first part Cassie, Libbie, George, Bruce and louis Campbell.
Katie, Nellie, Maggie Ann, Miss McPhie, Maggie T., Sadie, Alice and I are going to paper Mrs. Nicholsons house tomorrow. Think of it. Would’nt you like to see it after it is done. The proceedings begin right after dinner. The paper is squares with flowers in them. Mrs. Nicholson has her stove taken out and an old fire place opened up. It is much nicer now. No smoke. Miss McPhie and Sadie & I were up on the hill today for May flowers. We got quite a lot. Ida & I sleep in your room now. Charlie & Allan are coming to cut wood here tomorrow. Earnie drove Ida home today for all John D. was out and she was told he would drive her home. I am going to send you some money some time soon to get me a presant to give to Maggie B. It must be some thing useful. John is to go to the station with your parcel tomorrow.
From your loving sister
Amy Cairns.
Ida is vaccinated. My arm is getting better. Johns was not 1/2 as bad as Tom’s and mine. You may receive my scab soon and then you will be able to vaccinate yourself.
[Another letter, no heading. “Open at once, Janet” written on reverse of page.]
Dear Janet I am sending you 20 cents to buy me a scrap book and if you can’t buy me the beads put in the 5 cents and buy one with 25 cents.
Mamma is sending you some handkerchiefs. We are going to have 2 chickens for dinner. Mr.
McFedridge was here last night. The concert did not come off last night but is going to be
Friday. If you have bought the beads send them home with papa. Amy
