Barney’s River
Saturday Feb. 17
Dear Daughter,
We rec’d your letter 2 days ago & were glad to hear that you were well. We are all well. Mr. Rattie was with me on Monday & Tuesd evs & I was alone on Wed. ev. & Mr. Irving has been with me on Thursday & Friday. He goes away to day by express. The meetings were well attended, but there was no open demonstration of any kind. The church was full every night. We closed them last night. I got back from Halifax all right but beyond the mere holiday of it, I am almost sorry that I went as it costs me nearly $10.00 for pay to Mr. Ross.
Mama does not suspect anything about the pictures. Have you sent it away to Mary yet? I don’t know what one you sent, or that you refer to, but when we are doing it, I would like of course to get the very best possible so as to give Mary a chance, equal to her very best brains.
I sent you in $5.00 & that will do you till I come in to Presb. on the 6th March. If you are troubled with constipation you must use all the lemons you want, cost what they will. There is some-thing much better than that – Syrup of Cascara Sagrada – but I will get it for you – or you can get it yourself. The druggist will put the amount of dose to be taken on the Bottle.
Your aff. Father J.A.C.
